Moosemen Match Report
MTSU hosted their very own Old Boys on Saturday on our temporary game field while the new facility nears completion. The Old fellas slowly trickled in and numbers were around 20-25 for the Old Boys team.
The game kicked off slowly and the MTSU boys were fighting hard. They interrupted some posession for the Old Boys numerous times and looked quite impressive. However, only time was needed for the veterans to shake off the dust and start putting some great runs together. Toby Florek struck first for 5 on a dummy pass move. The conversion was missed by Toby. Next, the "Rock", Chris Ryan bursted through and took a try on his terms followed by another missed CK by Toby.
The pace slowed again as MTSU struggled to hault the wiley Old Boys, but Evan Bone scooped up another score for the 3rd Old Boys try followed by 2 ponts from Keith Burnett.
Finally, after struggling and spending a lengthy amount of time putting pressure on the Old Boys in their own territory, the MTSU team scored via Jason Davila. Nick Chamberlain followed for 2.
The final try of the first half was posted by coach Dusty Brown and the CK was missed by Burnett.
Score at the half..22-7
The second half started off and MTSU held on as long as they could before the Old Boys swallowed them up with more experience and some fresh legs. Mark Kane struck for 5 followed by 2 from Pieter Van Vurren. Following this try former USA Eagle Cayo Nicolau picked up a pair of tries and 4 more points from Van Vurren.
The final score of the game was picked up by "Texas" Greg, and Pieter with 2.
